1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Whatsrapped ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. Whatsrapped is operated by KaranLabs ("we", "us", "our").

2. What Whatsrapped Does

Whatsrapped is an iOS application that reads a WhatsApp chat export (a _chat.txt file or the .zip archive that contains it) and renders an eight-card animated story summarizing the conversation. All parsing and metric calculation happens on your device. The App is designed for two-person conversations between consenting adults — typically a couple or a pair of close friends.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Whatsrapped. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

4. No Account, No Login

Whatsrapped does not require, support, or create user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into. Past analyses you keep are stored locally on your device and are tied to your installation of the App — not to a server-side identity.

5. Consent of the Other Person

Whatsrapped operates on chat exports of conversations you are a participant in. Before importing a chat, you must take reasonable steps to obtain the consent of the other person in the conversation. By using the App you confirm that:

  • You are a participant in the conversation you are importing.
  • The other person is an adult and has not objected to your processing the chat for personal use.
  • You will not use the App for surveillance, harassment, or against the other person's interests.
  • You will not share screenshots or saved cards that include the other person's words in a manner that violates their privacy or dignity.

You alone are responsible for your use of any chat you import.

6. Purchases (Consumable Packs)

Whatsrapped uses Apple's In-App Purchase system to sell consumable packs. Each pack grants two complete Wrapped analyses. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no recurring charge. Once both analyses in a pack are used, you may purchase another pack.

  • All payments are processed by Apple. We do not see your payment method or your Apple ID.
  • Consumable purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Your remaining-pack balance ("entitlement") is stored locally on your device. Reinstalling the App or switching devices may reset the balance; we cannot restore consumable purchases.
  • We may change the price of future packs at any time. Existing packs you have already purchased are unaffected.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of the chat exports you import, the words inside them, and any screenshots or cards you save. The App does not transmit, upload, or otherwise transfer the chat or its contents to us. You do not grant us any license to your chat content — because we never receive it.

Generated cards rendered on your device are yours to keep, share, or delete. Where the App contains design elements, icons, fonts, illustrations, motion, or generated layouts, those design elements remain the property of KaranLabs and its licensors.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Import chats you are not a participant in, or chats you have obtained without authorization.
  • Use the App to harass, embarrass, or harm the other person in the conversation.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or modify the App except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Use the App in any way that interferes with iOS, with WhatsApp, or with other apps on your device.
  • Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App or its features.
  • Use the App in violation of any applicable law, including data-protection, communications, and consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.

9. Intellectual Property

The App — including its name, icon, branding, design system, source code, illustrations, motion design, copy, and the eight-card story format — is owned by KaranLabs and protected by intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use.

10. Trademark and Affiliation Disclaimer

Whatsrapped is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner; we reference it only to describe the chat-export format the App accepts. "Spotify Wrapped" is a trademark of Spotify AB; no affiliation is implied by the story-card format.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate for every chat-export format, or available in every region. Counts, percentages, heatmaps, language detections, and similar metrics are computed heuristically from the export file and may not be exact. The App is intended for entertainment and personal reflection, not for evidentiary, forensic, legal, medical, or relationship-counselling purposes.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KaranLabs and its officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or other intangibles. Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us for in-app purchases in the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KaranLabs from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App in violation of these Terms, your importation of chats without proper consent, or your sharing of generated content with third parties.

14. Termination

You may terminate your use of Whatsrapped at any time by deleting the App from your device. We may suspend or discontinue the App, or any feature within it, at any time, with or without notice. Sections 7 through 13 survive termination.

15. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what stays on your device and the very limited information that ever leaves it.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App or on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence remain unaffected. App Store distribution is additionally subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; in the event of conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA with respect to App Store distribution, Apple's EULA controls only to the extent of that conflict.
